In addition to the ever-increasing tourist offer of our region, rural tourism, the Drina river, the peaks Bobija, the Trešnjica canyon, monasteries and churches, event tourism stands out in particular. The biggest event in Ljubovia is the Drina Regatta, and the second largest manifestation is the Gastro Festival, which takes place on the second Saturday of May.
It was the same this year, so on Saturday, May 11, participants from from all parts of Serbia, but also BiH, about 50 teams from Despotovac, Belgrade, Novi Bečej, Kikinda, Valjevo, Užice, Osečina, Vladimirac, Bogatić, Zlatibor, Mali Zvornik, Bratunac, Konjević polje, and of course the hosts support is not absent. The festival has a competitive nature, among the many competitors, the best fish soup was prepared by the team Cafe "Šansa-im" from Valjevo. The competition is also organized in the following disciplines: ethnic cuisine, modern cuisine, baking, confectionery and carving.
The tourist organization of the municipality of Ljubovija made sure that, in addition to the competition works, prepare a cultural and artistic program. The event was opened with a performance by children from the Preschool "Poletarac", then KUD "Azbukovica" from Ljubovija, and the youngest visitors were entertained by childrens animators. After announcement of winners and awarding of prizes to the most successful contestants, a concert by the "Vožd" orchestra was held.
"Like every year, we tried our best to offer all the participants and guests of the Gastro Festival a unique experience which they will remember for a long time, which will be their motivation to come to us again, and we hope that we have succeeded in that. The goal of this festival is also the promotion of authentic alphabetic cuisine. I would like to thank everyone who participated in our event and to everyone who visited us," said Jelena Topalović, director of the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Ljubovija.
The development of the municipality of Ljubovija is oriented towards agriculture and tourism, and the strong connection between these two branches is already showing results. At the Gastro festival, especially at the ethnic table, food was prepared from home-made local products manufacturer.
"The Municipality of Ljubovija will continue to encourage cooperation between local agricultural producers and tourist entities, which will strengthen our path of development and give us a chance for survival villages. It is evident that the number of tourists in the municipality of Ljubovija increases from year to year, and our desire is to merge agriculture and tourism, we offer more to every guest, through clean nature, clean air and healthy, organic food. All this will lead to an increase in the income of all our fellow citizens who are engaged in agriculture and tourism, and therefore to higher revenues in the municipal budget," says Milan Jovanović, president of the Municipality of Ljubovija.
Everyone who visited the Gastro Festival in Ljubovia had the opportunity to try a variety of tastes, primarily traditional ones cuisine and dishes prepared according to old Serbian recipes. The expert jury announced the winners in all competitions disciplines. The most successful contestants also received gifts from the sponsor of the Gastro festival "Metalac przema", Gornji Milanovac, while the first prize for the fish stew category was a television set, a gift from the Tourism Organization of the municipality Ljubovia
